We’re looking for a motivated nursery nurse to join our rapidly expanding nursery in Bargoed. Applicants will be required to cover staff holidays and sickness on an ad hoc basis. Working hours will be between Monday-Friday 7.30am start and 6pm finish. The successful applicant should be an experienced nursery practitioner, available to undertake any start/finish time between these hours.

Salary will be reviewed every 3 months with the aim of exceeding industry norm.

Essential qualities

You MUST have a welcoming face that makes each and every one of our children feel special.

You MUST be prepared to smile and laugh all day long.

You MUST be able to give bear hugs on demand at any point in the day.

You MUST have a strong stomach as this job involves dealing with wee, poo and snot (usually rubbed on your clothing!), as well as various messy play substances.

You MUST be willing to role play…. If a child asks you to be a dancing princess pirate fairy, then you will be a dancing princess pirate fairy!

You MUST feel comfortable singing loudly (in or out of tune!) in front of an audience of little people.

You MUST be able to use various silly voices during story time, whilst reading sideways with interruptions at least every 10 seconds.

Advanced maths skills are not essential, but you MUST be able to rapidly count multiple little people whilst they are all running around without losing count.

We are a very inclusive company, however, due to the nature of the job you MUST have eyes in the back of your head (as well as on the front of course!)

More serious qualities

It is essential that you are trained to a minimum of level 2 in CHILDCARE (not social care or supporting teaching in schools) to ensure the nursery meets the standards expected by social care Wales.

Every member of staff is required to complete safeguarding, first aid, food hygiene and behaviour management training as a minimum.

You MUST have very high values in order to maintain our high quality childcare.

Duties

To work as part of our small but close knit team on the nursery floor, providing the absolute highest standards of childcare to each and every child.

Duteis to include:

Providing stimulating activities, personal care (i.e nappies and toiletting), keeping child development records up to date.
